At Bella Grace Brightwater School Kindergarten, we pay respect to and acknowledge the traditional owners of the land, the Gubbi Gubbi people, on which our Kindergarten operates.
At Bella Grace Brightwater School Kindergarten, our primary shared goal is the well-being of all children within our care. Believing that a happy, nurturing, loving, and trusting environment fosters progressive learning, the development of positive self-esteem, peer friendships, and the acquisition of foundational life skills. Our enriched, play-based curriculum empowers children to make their own choices, enhancing individual growth through encouraged active participation and the development of a sense of wonder and discovery. We support our community's aspirations to nurture strong, healthy children mentally, physically, and spiritually in our everyday practices and intentional program.
We are committed to providing a quality educational program that is inclusive of all children in our care. Bella Grace Brightwater School Kindergarten offers a holistic, evolving curriculum that is both responsive to individual and group needs while valuing each child’s background, culture, interests, strengths, and unique abilities. We encourage children's self-esteem, confidence, resilience, problem-solving skills, respect for others, independence, and social skill development through the provision of a safe, stimulating, nurturing, relaxed, and enhanced environment. Furthermore, developing positive dispositions for learning, such as curiosity, communication, resourcefulness, cooperation, persistence, and a willingness to take risks.
Educators work to build strong relationships with children and their families. These relationships ensure we plan and implement programs that are inclusive of all needs and capabilities. A three-tiered approach is embedded in our daily program supporting children’s social and emotional development with our universal approach, Have you filled a bucket? Educators and families guide and support this approach. We make theory visible in our play spaces because it underpins our everyday decisions that enhance children’s outcomes. We acknowledge this theory is consistently evolving, thus ensuring we are implementing contemporary practises as they arise.
We value our outdoor learning environment as the third teacher, and we recognise that children require opportunities to connect with nature to develop an appreciation and respect for the natural world. We incorporate sustainable practices into our curriculum, which emphasises our responsibility to protect the environment and maintain a sustainable future.
At Bella Grace Brightwater School Kindergarten, we believe that a child’s education is one of lifelong learning. It is a journey that develops there and in their way. A child’s education is based on their own life experiences, personal interests, and unique needs. Each child is allowed to experiment, take risks, and make mistakes, as well as the freedom to explore and enquire to expand their knowledge. Furthermore, we believe that for children to thrive in an ever-changing world, they need the opportunity to develop a range of life skills.
Additionally, we believe that a parent is the child’s first and most influential teacher and that it is critical to work collaboratively with families to provide relevant and positive learning experiences. By creating a welcoming environment for all families who visit our centre, we aim to foster positive and supportive relationships, encouraging families to become involved in the daily operations of the kindergarten program and their child’s education.
Family diversity, as well as culture, language, and traditions, are valued at Bella Grace Brightwater School Kindergarten. Children are taught about Australia's cultural diversity and the value of being inclusive and respectful of others. The service embeds Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander history and culture into the service's operations and curriculum, honouring First Nations as the custodians of the land.
In addition to being inclusive and respectful of others, we value contribution and connection to the broader community, taking pride in fostering partnerships that enhance children's opportunities to experience the world around them, develop new perspectives, and contribute to a sense of belonging and connectivity within the wider community.
