  • Be Safe

As a community of educators, we understand that to obtain meaningful relationships with families, we must build their trust in us through open and honest communication. Educators are transparent and approachable; they listen to the needs of our community and support the inclusion of these needs through daily practice. Being an integral part of an ever-growing multicultural society, we embrace the diverse cultures of our developing community. We also acknowledge the traditional custodians of our land and respect our country. We strive to engage with our local Gubbi Gubbi people, exploring our connections to the Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people as the first people of Australia. We see our service as a culturally safe space for all community members, seeking consultation with our first nations people to contribute voice and perspective throughout our service operations and curriculum. We play a pivotal role in the development of safe communities for our children and families. The services and child safety practices embrace nationally recognized child safety programs, for example, The Daniel Morcombe Foundation, and My 5 Safe People.

    Be Fair

Our team values the bonds we forge with each child and their family through trusting and meaningful relationships that create a strong sense of belonging. We understand and celebrate individual strengths, cultures, and attributes by engaging regularly with families through conversation, participation, and reflection. This enhances our decision-making process and ensures ethical outcomes, which strengthen partnerships with all stakeholders. We believe culture extends beyond a place of birth or ethnicity, forming a non-bias approach to family relationships, values, and core beliefs. The service plans rich, purposeful experiences that support children’s connection to Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people, embrace diversity, and build respect. We research current trends, access relevant community connections, and adapt our environments, providing differentiation to support the inclusion of all children and families.

    Be Kind and Caring

As a community of educators, we have strong foundations in being kind and caring, supporting children, families, and the Bella Grace Community to be active participants in our society. Through unique practices, e.g., role modelling, verbal, and nonverbal communication, and honest collaboration, we achieve respectful relationships and connections. Our service advocates for and embeds environmental responsibility through intentional programs that promote awareness and engage children and families in sustainable life choices. We reflect, research, and actively contribute to learning opportunities regarding our impact on the world, which develops an understanding of the interconnectedness of people and land.

    Be Supportive, Keep Trying

From a strength-based approach, children are seen as confident and capable learners. We empower children by scaffolding life skills, self-esteem, self-confidence, and self-respect throughout the service curriculum. Educators maximize opportunities for individual child development with a holistic approach to intentional play-based learning experiences and environments. As an early learning community, we achieve growth and consistent improvement that provides quality educational outcomes while building resilience and empathy within our service culture. We value social, emotional, and spiritual development by supporting personal expression and practicing strategies that are inclusive of individual needs. Our environments facilitate positive dispositions towards learning by creating safe spaces for children to take risks, contribute to decision-making, and evaluate outcomes.

    Be Helpful, Use Helping Hands

We build a responsive community through helping hands, where all stakeholders are advocates for land, country, and reconciliation, becoming socially responsible citizens of the future. Our collaborative partnerships promote understanding and respectful appreciation for one another. We support families as the children’s first and most important educators, and we honor this by using it to guide and support our practices as we grow and learn together. We build reciprocal relationships with our families and community through aiding external organizations, and we understand that to generate these partnerships we must first listen, reflect, and then respond. The United Nations Convention on the Rights of the Child and the Code of Ethics underpin, shape, and enhance all aspects of our service operations, curriculum, and environments, ensuring our helping hands reach beyond our immediate community to the entire world.
